Little Lady Bucs drop contest to East Fairmont


FAIRMONT – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Lady Bucs had trouble getting their offense going in a 51-20 setback to East Fairmont in a road battle Monday evening.

The Little Lady Bucs were without leading scorer Alyssa Abel for the game.

The Little Lady Bucs fell behind by a 17-4 score after one quarter with a Avi Travise scoring the only field goal and Shaylee Hebb and Olivia Shipley each adding a free throw.

The Little Lady Bucs scored six points in the second quarter with Kylie Hull getting three, Brooklyn Smith two and Shipley one.

B-UMS trailed at the half by a 30-10 score.

A basket by Hebb was the only third-quarter offense for the Little Lady Bucs as they were behind by a 47-12 score heading into the fourth quarter.

The Little Lady Bucs had their best quarter in the fourth quarter, winning it by an 8-4 margin.

Smith had four points and Travise and Makenzie Egress had two.

Smith led the B-UMS offense with six points.

Kinley Opas led East Fairmont with 16 points.

The loss dropped the Little Lady Bucs to 2-4.

Their other two games this week with Elkins and Robert L. Bland were postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.

They will return to action Monday hosting Belington and then visit Taylor County on Tuesday.
