Little Lady Buc JV squad can’t overcome slow start in loss to Lady Green Hornets


Limited to just six points in first half of 20-16 setback

ELKINS – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Lady Bucs got off to a slow start here Thursday night and wound up dropping a 20-16 decision to the Elkins Lady Green Hornets in junior varsity action inside the Elkins Middle School gymnasium.

They trailed by a 1-0 count after one period, and were outscored by a 7-6 edge in the second stanza, with Kenna Maxwell doing their scoring.

Maxwell hit a bucket and converted a pair of free throws in the third quarter, which went to Elkins by a 6-4 margin, putting Buckhannon down by a 14-10 score going into the final six minutes.

The final segment was a 6-6 trade-off, with Kendal Currence, Hodgenay Henderson and Maxwell tallying two points apiece.

The loss dropped the Little Lady Bucs to 6-4 going into Tuesday night’s contest with the visiting West Fairmont Lady Polar Bear Cubs.
