Little Lady Buc cagers hike record to 3-0 after 40-25 victory over Grafton


GRAFTON — Kenna Maxwell fired in 22 points here Dec. 9 to pace the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Lady Bucs to a 40-25 triumph over Taylor County’s Lady Knights in a varsity cage clash.

They upped their record to 3-0 going into Tuesday night’s home contest with Philippi’s Lady Bulldogs. They will travel to Bridgeport Thursday night to battle the Lady Braves.

Maxwell bombed in 11 markers, including a trio of three-pointers, Kyndal Davis, Gabby Parke and Alyssa Abel each banged in a bucket and Hodge’nay Henderson sank a foul shot to give the Little Lady Bucs an 18-2 first quarter lead.

Maxwell put in a basket for the only Lady Buc points in a 7-2 second period. They enjoyed a 20-9 halftime advantage.

With Maxwell pumping in six markers, Abel adding a goal and Henderson chipping in with a free throw the Little Lady Bucs claimed the third canto by a 9-7 to take a 29-16 lead into the fourth stanza.

The Buckhannon girls closed out with a 9-7 advantage on five points by Parke, three by Maxwell, two by Callie Lantz and one by Jansen Kimble.

Following Maxwell in the scoring column were Parke with seven points, Abel with four, Davis, Henderson and Lantz with two each and Kimble with one.
