Little Bucs roll to a 36-26 win over RLB


WESTON – A 24-point fourth-quarter explosion carried the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Buccaneers to a 36-26 varsity triumph over Robert L. Bland’s Patriots here Jan. 3.

The contest got off to a slow start with the score knotted at 5-5 after one period, with Mark Hurst bombing in a three-pointer and Zach Calef-Boring canning a deuce. Keyton Lanier lofted in a trey and Josh Nesbitt added a charity throw in a 4-4 second period.

Robert L. Bland took a 17-12 lead by capturing the third stanza by an 8-3 margin. Shawn Blandino did Buckhannon’s scoring with a bucket and a free throw.

Blandino sparked the fourth-quarter rampage with 10 markers, with Calef-Boring and Ian Donnen tallying four apiece, Gage Raschella canning three, Jason Clem contributing two and Chase Spencer adding one.

Blandino finished with 13 points. The other Little Bucs scoring were Calef-Boring with six markers, Donnen with four, Hurst, Raschella and Lanier with three apiece, Clem with two, and Spencer and Josh Nesbitt each with one.

The Little Bucs improved to 7-4. They will entertain Lincoln Thursday night. They were to have gone to Philippi Tuesday night to battle the Bulldogs.
