Little Bucs have rough outing against Mountaineer

MORGANTOWN – The Buckhannon-Upshur Miiddle School Little Bucs got off to a slow start in their varsity contest with Mountaineer (Morgantown) here last Wednesday night and ended up losing, 56-28.

They had only a bucket by Zach Calef-Boring in the opening period and trailed by a 15-2 margin.

Calef-Boring nd Shawn Blandino tallied three points apiece, and Ian Donnen and Mark Hurst had two each, but they were outscored by a 12-10 edge in the second stanza, putting them down by a 27-12 spread at intermission.

The third quarter spelled their finish, with Mountaineer outpointing them, 19-6.

The final segment was even at 10-10.

Calef-Boring led the scoring with seven markers, with Blandino and Chase Spencer canning five apiece, Wade Nesbitt tallying four, Keyton Lanier adding three, and Donnen and Hurst each contributing two.

The Little Bucs fell to 4-2. They were to have entertained South Tuesday and visited Bridgeport Thursday.
