Little Bucs drop 67-43 decision to Mountaineer

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Bucs grabbed a 12-10 first-quarter lead over Mountaineer (Morgantown) here last Wednesday, but were unable to continue the pace and fell by a 67-43 count in a varsity contest.

Mark Hurst led the opening-period scoring with a trio of three-pointers, with Shawn Blandino adding a bucket and Zach Calef-Boring a free throw.

Mountaineer outpointed the Little Bucs by a 57-31 margin in the final three periods.

Blandino paced the Little Bucs with 12 points, with Ian Donnen and Hurst following with 10 apiece. Josh Nesbitt and Zade Woody added four each, and Calef-Boring contributed three.

They were to have wound up the season Monday night, traveling to Elkins to battle the Green Hornets in a make-up clash.
