Little Buc soccer team wins debut against West Farimont


FAIRMONT – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School soccer team opened their season in fine fashion Friday evening on the road with a 1-0 victory over West Fairmont.

Christian Dowell had the lone goal of the game, five minutes into the second half.

Jonas Barton set up the goal and was credited with the assist.

The B-UMS defense made that goal stand as they pitched a shutout never letting West Fairmont on the scoreboard.

Little Buc keeper Carter Zuliani had seven saves in the shutout win.

The Little Bucs held a 15-10 margin in shots over West Fairmont.

The Little Bucs, now 1-0, were slated to play Lincoln on Monday.

They will return to action today hosting Elkins at 7:30 p.m. and then remain at home Wednesday when they square off against East Fairmont at 7:30 p.m.

They will wrap up four games in four days as they visit Lost Creek on Thursday when they meet South Harrison in a 7:30 p.m contest.
