Little Buc cagers fall to Bridgeport, 49-16

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School varsity Little Bucs dropped a 49-16 decision to Bridgeport back on Dec. 19 in a home outing.

The Little Bucs managed just four field goals in the game.

With Ian Strader putting in a basket and Bryson Johnston and Jaden Westfall a free throw, the Little Bucs trailed after one quarter by an 11-4 margin.

With Nathaniel Ringer scoring three points, Strader two and Johnston and Malachi Williams adding a free throw, the Bucs tallied seven points in the second quarter but lost the canto by a 17-7 margin.

That left them down by a 28-11 score at the break.

Two free throws by Ringer was the only offense the Little Bucs could muster in the third quarter as they dropped the stanza by a 14-2 score.

That left them down by a 42-13 score going into the fourth quarter.

A three-pointer by Ringer was the lone offense for the Little Bucs in the fourth quarter which went to Bridgeport by a 7-3 score.

Ringer led the Little Bucs with eight points.

Chase Watson paced Bridgeport with 12 points.

The Little Bucs were slated to play in the Preston Christmas Tournament Dec. 26-27 and then go on the road to face Lincoln Jan. 2 and Robert L. Bland Jan. 7 and return home to meet Elkins this past Thursday.

They will return to action on Tuesday as they host Preston at 7:30 p.m.
