Lions recycles lenses

BUCKHANNON — The Tennerton Lions Club has collected three full size boxes of used prescription eyeglasses. The collection of lenses will be delivered to their annual Fall Conference next weekend. From the conference, the lenses will be sent to Roanoke, VA, where they will be washed and sterilized, then the prescription strength will be determined, and the eyeglasses will be prepared for distribution.

Various medical and missionary organizations will directly hand out the eyeglasses in less fortunate countries throughout the world. Doctors will match up those in need with the appropriate strength of refurbished glasses after testing their sight. This is a wonderful practice to recycle and help those in need. A warm thank you to all who donated old glasses and to the Tennerton Lions Club for their service to the Upshur County community, as well as communities abroad.
