Letter: Salvation Army thanks community

Dear Editor:

I want to take a moment to send out a heartfelt Thanks to our community for a successful holiday season.

We successfully fulfilled Christmas for 123 families with a total of 236 children of Upshur County.

I want to thank those that had Angel trees in their businesses, adopted the Angels, stepped up to cover the ones that were not turned back in and the ones that helped out with the emergency families that came in at the last moment. A thank you to the ones that volunteered their time helping with the transfer to our distribution location, organizing by family, sorting, marking out bar codes and checking/putting bikes together.

We as a community are a team, we are blessed to be able to help others and I THANK YOU!!

To the ones that braved the weather and committed their time volunteering during our bell ringing season, it too was a success. I give special thanks to our local VFW lead by Larry Brown and Opportunity House for their, once again, schedule commitments for the entire duration of our season. We had many clubs and individuals volunteer this year; The Buckhannon Rotary Club, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Women of the Methodist and even had some high schoolers getting their community service hours in thru ringing. We give you great thanks in helping with the ringing season as it is our main resource for the services we provide to our community so I THANK YOU! !
