Letter: 12 years after my stroke, I’m still improving every day

Dear Editor,

It’s hard to believe this coming February it will be 12 years since my stroke hit me.

It was an ordinary Sunday. I got up feeling fine, but within a few hours my life changed forever. I remember the emergency room doctor saying “awful young to have a stroke.” A stroke can hit you at any age.

I am still improving every day. I’ve came too far to look back and quit. If all my friends could see me now... A stroke is an up and down battle. It takes a long time to heal. Most people think, “It will never happen to me.” But when you see your life flash in front of you, you realize it’s your life. You never know what can happen to you.

God bless all of you, my friends.

Sincerely Yours

Thomas E. Reed
