Letha Mae Cross, 95, formerly of Camden, WV, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center. She was born in Gale, WV on March 4, 1926 to the late Benjamin Harrison Hess and Etta Mae (Zickefoose) Hess. Letha Mae was united in marriage on March 6, 1949 to James C. Cross who preceded her in death on June 16, 2016.
Letha Mae is survived by three children: Brenda Joyce Beall (Edmund) of Canal Fulton, OH, Gregory Neal Cross (Tammy) of Sistersville, WV and Caesy L. Cross of Camden, WV; five grandchildren: Brenda Sue Shartzer, Alex Smith, Jessica Smith, Bradley Cross and James Cross; four great-grandchildren: Brandon Micheal Shartzer, Dylan Micheal Shartzer, Emma Cross and Ali Cross; and one niece, Debbie Gibson (Doug).
Letha Mae was also preceded in death by one brother, Harrison Junior Hess.
Letha Mae was a graduate of Buckhannon High School. After graduating, she moved to Clarksburg and worked at the A & P Store for a few years. She then became a homemaker raising and caring for her family. Letha Mae was Methodist by faith. Her hobbies were sewing and cooking.
Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston, WV on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Andrew Tennant officiating. Interment will follow services at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Harrison County. At the family’s request, all attendees must wear a mask.
