Leonard Leon Shingleton, 77, of Buckhannon, passed away in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. He was surrounded by loving family and under the compassionate care of WV Hospice, including his wonderful aides, Evelyn and Denise.
He was born in Brooks Hill, WV, on November 5, 1943, a son of the late Arley and Ruth Helen Bunner Shingleton.
On May 17, 1965, Leonard married the love of his life and best friend, Arnetta Hayes. They remained united in marriage as one for the last 56 years. Leonard and Arnetta shared all the joys of marriage and raising their two children.
Forever cherishing their memories of Leonard are his wife, Arnetta Shingleton; one son, Randy Shingleton; one daughter, Terry Jo Shingleton and fiancé, Jimmy Riley; one grandson, Randy Shingleton II; two granddaughters: Amy Shingleton and companion, Derek Ware, and Ivy Riley; one brother, Lonnie “Bee-Ray” Shingleton and his wife, Ellen; and several nieces and nephews.
Leonard worked at Moore’s Business Forms for 16.5 years and drove truck for Union Drilling for 28 years. Spending time with his family brought joy to his heart. Leonard’s grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he cherished every moment he spent with them. He and his family treasured the assistance they received from their Red Knob neighbors, family doctor, Gerard O’Loughlin, and Karen Lane who visited Leonard frequently and brought his delicious meals.
Leonard’s request for Cremation has been honored and a Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
