Lady ‘Cats wrap up regular season with loss to Wingate; enters MEC Tennis Tournament today as No. 3 seed


ELKINS — The West Virginia Wesleyan women’s tennis team won their 13th match of the season last Monday with a 6-1 non-conference victory at Davis & Elkins College.

The Lady Bobcats lost the top doubles and singles matches, but were successful in the other five singles and two doubles outings

The squad followed that up with a 7-0 non-conference loss to #14 ranked Wingate in North Carolina last Thursday.

Wesleyan, 13-9 overall, will now prepare for the Mountain East Conference tournament which begins today.

The Lady ‘Cats  will enter as the third seed for the MEC event.

They will face the sixth-seed Fairmont State at 2 p.m. at the Brian David Fox Tennis Center in Huntington.

The winner of that match will face No. 2 seed West Virginia State, who received a first-round bye, Thursday at 2 p.m.
