Lady ‘Cats to hold two softball clinics this winter

BUCKHANNON — West Virginia Wesleyan head softball coach Steve Warner has announced the dates for his annual winter softball clinics.

The first camp is scheduled for Jan. 27 and the second camp is slated for Feb. 9.

The Jan. 27 clinic will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for the hitting instruction only and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for hitting and pitching instruction.

The camp is open for all players from fifth through 12th grades.

The cost of the camp is $40  (Hitting Only) or $50 for both hitting and pitching

The cost includes a T-shirt (pre-registration only) and lunch.

The second camp on Feb. 9 and will be an individual clinic that will run from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The cost is $80 and includes a T-shirt and lunch.

Campers are instructed to bring a glove, shorts/t-shirt, sweats, tennis shoes and bat/batting gloves and helmet.

The camp is under the direction of West Virginia Wesleyan head coach Steve Warner, who is entering his 28th season with the Lady Bobcats.

Warner has won 22 conference titles in his 27 seasons at the helm of the Lady Bobcat program.

His overall coaching record is 1043-365-1. He ranks in the top five in the country in victories among active NCAA Division II coaches.

He will be joined by his staff of assistant coaches Bob Allen, Sara Scoone and Michaela Hamilton.

Special guests for the clinics include Burgettstown High School head coach Mark Deer, pitching great David “Bimbo” Vallina and Glenville State head coach Kristen Tunno.

Early registration is encouraged for both camps as spots will fill up very quickly.
