Lady ‘Cats remain winless with overtime loss to Cedarville

CEDARVILLE (Ohio) – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats dominated the stat sheet against the Cedarville Yellow Jackets Saturday evening at the Yellow Jacket Soccer complex, but came up short in the final score as they dropped a 1-0 verdict in overtime in the non-conference affair.

Wesleyan owned a 7-2 advantage shots-on-goal and a 6-3 lead in corner kicks, but were never able to get a shot past Cedarville keeper Allison Garlock.

Wesleyan keeper Chelsea Hubner was up to the challenge as well keeping the Yellow Jackets off the scoreboard during regulation.

With just two minutes into the overtime period though, the Yellow Jackets had a corner kick and Hannah Atkinson scored off the play with the assist going to Olivia Hoffman.

The win was the first for Cedarville on the season as they improved to 1-3 .

The loss left the Lady ‘Cats still searching for their first win as they dropped to 0-2 on the season.

Wesleyan will return to action Thursday when they travel to Glenville State Thursday for their MEC opener against the Lady Pioneers.

The game will kick-off at 7 p.m.
