TENNERTON — New head coach Alicia Lentz and assistant coach Keely Burnside have enjoyed a solid debut campaign at the helm of the Buckhannon-Upshur High School Lady Buccaneers varsity volleyball team, racking up a 12-11 record entering Senior Night. The young team has found a great deal of success, with the help of their coaches and two senior leaders, Kendal Currence and Tori Perkins. These two players have provided a veteran presence for a team whose core group of players is mostly comprised of underclassmen. Following pregame honors for both Currence and Perkins for their outstanding career contributions to the Lady Buccaneer volleyball program, action got underway.
The Lady Buccaneers dropped the first set by a score of 25-11. Coach Lentz’ team showed much more fight in the second and third sets, losing both by the identical scores of 25-11. Despite the sweep, this young Lady Buccaneers team has nothing to hang their head about, this group is only starting to gel as a cohesive unit. The possibilities are endless for this group should they stick the course and stay together. The loss dropped the Lady Buccaneers to 12-12 overall, with an 8-5 record in Big 10 Conference play this season.
