Lady Bucs soccer on fire with 7-game winning streak

TENNERTON — The Buckhannon-Upshur girls’ soccer team hosted Liberty High School on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. 

B-UHS lost their first two games of the season, but they have been on fire ever since with a winning streak and have won the last seven straight games. 

Lady Buccaneers Lexia Kelley, assisted by Catherine Oliveto, scored a goal with a kick straight down the center and over the keeper’s right shoulder in the 28th minute. Oliveto then scored the second goal, unassisted, in the 32nd minute. Kyleigh Keener shot a penalty kick following a handball nearing the end of the first half. 

Sydney Vilain shot the only goal for Liberty in the 46th minute, at the start of the second half. The kick rounded the keeper and was shot from the right side. Wrapping up the game and securing the win, Lady Buccaneers player Chloe Cale, in the 67th minute, shot the last goal crossing from the right sideline. She was assisted by Hannah Boyles.
