Lady Bucs hike record to 4-0 after sweeping Fairmont Senior in Big 10 Conference action

Johnna Smith had five kills and four digs for the Buckhannon-Upshur volleyball Lady Bucs in their 3-0 victory over Fairmont Senior last Thursday.

FAIRMONT – The Buckhannon-Upshur volleyball Lady Bucs stayed perfect on the year with a 3-0 Big 10 Conference win over Fairmont Senior last Thursday evening.

The Lady Bucs won in straight sets – 25-21, 25-14 and 25-19 – to improve their record to 4-0 on the season.

They also stayed perfect in the Big 10 with a 2-0 mark.

Buckhannon-Upshur again had a strong showing with their serves, recording nine aces in the contest.

Abigail Vincent led the way with three while Caroline Frye and Johnna Smith each had two and McKenzie Reynolds and Meghan Bailey each had one.

Reynolds had a team-high eight kills while Shelby McDaniels checked in with six, Vincent and Smith each had five and Frye had four.

Reynolds also had a game-high 20 digs while McDaniels collected 11 and Vincent and Kaitlyn Shannon five each.

Frye, Bailey and Shannon each had a team-high seven assists.

Buckhannon-Upshur had four blocks at the net with Reynolds getting two and Vincent and Shannon one each.

Following four straight road matches, the Lady Bucs were slated to open at home Tuesday against Bridgeport and Grafton.

They will stay at home Thursday to host Liberty at 6 p.m.
