Lady Buc lacrosse team picks up three more wins over John Marshall, Berkeley and Capital

BUCKHANNON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc lacrosse team racked up three more convincing victories during a busy weekend a few weeks ago.

The Lady Bucs defeated John Marshall by a 13-2 score on Friday March 12, then picked up a pair of wins the next day on Saturday thrashing Berkeley by a 13-3 score and Capital, 15-3.

Against John Marshall, the Lady Bucs raced out to an 8-0 lead at the break and cruised to the win in the second half.

Miranda Greene led the offense with five goals while Hayley Rice contributed three, Kierra Arbogast two, Iris Kolenich two and Kaley McKisic one.

“Speed was the big key of the game,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jamie Greene. “We were faster and played very well together.”

The Lady Bucs jumped out a big first-half lead against Berkeley as well, taking an 8-1 lead into the break.

They outscored Berkley by a 5-2 score in the second half.

Greene again led the offense with six goals.

Leah Crihfield made three stops in net while Amber Powers made two as the two keepers split time in the net for Buckhannon-Upshur.

Just like the two previous games, B-U executed a solid game plan in the first half for a huge 10-0 advantage over Capital.

They outscored Capital 5-3 in the second half.

Greene tallied five goals while Rice and Emileigh Ryan each had three and Kolenich and Hannah Walton two each.

The Lady Bucs were slated to play St. Albans on Monday.

They will close out their regular season today when they visit Fairmont Senior for an 8 p.m. battle.
