“This was our only game we played on a grass surface,” remarked Greene. “We had a couple practices on grass to get ready for this game and they didn’t let the surface slow them down. I was very pleased with the girls and the way they handled the grass field. They played a great game.”
The outcome of the St. Albans game was never in doubt as the Lady Bucs owned a 10-1 lead at the break and won the second half by a 6-3 score for the 16-4 win.
Greene and Arbogast each had five goals while Defibaugh and Adams each had two and Paula Vaughn and Heather Hayes each had one.

The two wins secured home field for the Lady Bucs during the playoffs.
“This was a good way for us to finish the season,” concluded Greene. “They playoffs have to go through Buckhannon. “We started the season setting the goal of getting better with each practice and each game and making the state playoffs. Having home field advantage is big. I feel if they come to play, we are going to be hard to beat.”
The Lady Bucs will host John Marshall Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the opening round of the tournament and the winner of that game will play the winner of the George Washington/St. Albans game Thursday at 7 p.m.
The winner of that will face the winner of the East Division in the state championship game on June 12.
