Lady Bobcat golfers place fifth in MEC Spring Classic

WEST LIBERTY – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat golfers placed fifth in the rain-shortened Mountain East Conference Spring Classic Monday at the Oglebay Resort’s Palmer Course.

The final MEC event of the season was cut back to 18 holes after Sunday’s opening round was rained out.

Carleigh Bolyard was the top Lady Bobcat golfer as she finished eighth firing an 88 while Rebecca Davis was 16th shooting a 92.

Beverly Toothman landed in the top 20 as she placed 19th shooting a 93.

Rounding out the Lady Bobcat line-up was Emma Bryan placing 32nd with a 102 and Gaby Sayger finishing 47th with a 152.

Macie Hysell of Fairmont State ran away with low medalist honors with a 79.

Her closest competitor was Wheeling Jesuit’s Bailey Frederick who shot an 84.

Charleston’s Elizabeth Karsten finished third with an 85 and there was a three-way tie for fourth place with Notre Dame’s Alexandra Cardi, Wheeling Jesuit’s Kailey Pettit and Charleston’s Kenzie Dietz all firing an 86.

Wesleyan finished fifth as a team with 375 points.

Notre Dame won the event with a 344 while Charleston took runner-up honors with a 349.

Wheeling Jesuit finished third with a 358 while Concord was fourth with a 368.
