Lacrosse Lady Bucs take winning streak to six with 18-2 home victory over Wheeling Park

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc lacrosse team picked up another dominating win last Saturday earning an 18-2 victory over Wheeling Park at home in Freal “Red” Crites Memorial Stadium.

The Lady Bucs kept Wheeling Park off the scoreboard in the first half taking an 11-0 lead at the intermission and won the second half by a 7-2  margin for the 18-2 win.

The contest wrapped up a six-game homestand for the Lady Bucs.

Miranda Greene paced the offense with five goals while Kendall Defibaugh had three, Hannah Walton, Kaylee O’Conner, Heather Hayes two each and Emileigh Ryan, Kiki Arbogast and Paul Vaughn one each.

Gaidian Adams led the team in ground balls with eight while Walton had seven.

“Kiki Arbogast, Hannah Walton and Kendall Defibaugh handled the draws for us winning 14 of them,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach. Jamie Greene. “That allowed us to keep the ball on offense the majority of the game.”

Leah Crihfield made four saves while Haylea Crihfield made two as the sisters shared time in net for the Lady Bucs.

The Lady Bucs have now won six in a row and own a 10-3 record on the season.

They currently reside in first place in the seven-team WVSLA West Division standings.

George Washington is second while St. Albans is third and John Marshall is fourth.

They have two division games remaining – Wednesday at Harrison County at 6 p.m. at next Saturday at St. Albans – before heading into their post-season tournament.
