Kristie Tenney running for county commission

I am Kristie Tenney, a native of Upshur County, West Virginia, and I am proud to be a candidate for county commissioner on the Republican ballot this election cycle. It is my hope to be elected so I may serve the citizens of the community in which I was born and raised. I look to continue to help our county prosper, while also keeping it a safe place to live and raise families. As I ask for your vote, I also wanted you to be able to learn more about me.

My husband and I are proud graduates of Buckhannon-Upshur High School. We currently reside in Sago with our dog, Layla. We have been married for 23 years and have two children, Julie Sheldon and Brandon Tenney. Julie and her husband, Logan, are expecting their first child in May. J.P. and I are excited to welcome our first grandchild, and are blessed to have them living nearby in Sago. Our son Brandon attends Wheeling Jesuit University where he competes on the wrestling team.

Over the past decade, much of my time has been dedicated to running my business, Top Line Apparel. Much of the year 2009 was dedicated to helping the Upshur County Board of Education raise funds to build a new wrestling facility. I have also volunteered for several booster and PTO organizations over the years. J.P. serves as principal of the Elkins Mountain School and Children’s Home. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force when we were first married and spent many years as a coach for Upshur County Schools.

My father was the late Paul Carlyle, owner of Carlyle’s Texaco. He also worked at NRM, the Upshur County Board of Education and C&G. My mother, Karen Carlyle-Bennett, was employed by the Upshur County Board of Education for 25 years before retiring in 2012. I have one brother, Jeff Carlyle, who works as a program manager for the Department Of Justice. My in-laws are Frank and Delores Tenney of Buckhannon.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, running, listening to motivated podcasts and reading. I also actively attend Hampton United Methodist Church and Christian Fellowship Church with my husband.

I am passionate about the citizens of Upshur County. I feel owning my business and being involved in volunteer work over the years has prepared me for the role of county commissioner. I have a strong work ethic and am dedicated and honest. I look forward to meeting you in these final days before the election. I appreciate your support of my campaign for Upshur County Commissioner.
