JV Soccer Bucs drop opener to Mohigans, 2-0

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity soccer Buccaneers had their season opener spoiled by the visiting Morgantown Mohigans here Tuesday evening by a 2-0 score.

The two teams battled to an evenly played first half in which neither team could find the back of the net.

Morgantown broke the deadlock with a pair of second-half goals by Ben Rosiello and Bernardo Pereira.

The Bucs trailed in shots-on-goal by an 8-2 margin and corner kicks by a 6-1 gap.

Both team were guilty of four fouls apiece.

Buckhannon-Upshur keeper Dalton Auvil turned away seven shots while Morgantown’s Hunter Schefer made one save.

The junior varsity Bucs were slated to play Wheeling Park on Thursday.

Their next contest is scheduled for Saturday at home against the Princeton Tigers on the turf of Freal “Red” Crites Memorial Stadium at 12:30 p.m.
