JV Little Lady Bucs fall by six to Taylor County, 17-11


GRAFTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Lady Bucs tipped off the 2019-20 junior varsity basketball campaign here Dec. 9, falling to Taylor County’s Lady Knights by a 17-11 count.

The Little Lady Bucs failed to score in the first quarter and trailed by a 3-0 margin.

Olivia Shipley hit a bucket and Hailey Aegan canned a charity throw in the second period that went to the Lady Knights by a 6-3 count, leaving Buckhannon down by a 9-3 spread at intermission.

The Little Lady Bucs got only a field goal from Taylor Spratt in the third stanza and went into the final six minutes down by a 15-5 margin. Taylor County took the fourth quarter, 6-2.

Spratt finished with six points, with Shipley and Smith contributing two each, and Aegan adding one.

The Little Lady Bucs will go to Bridgeport Thursday night to face the Lady Braves. They were to have entertained Philippi’s Lady Bulldogs Tuesday night.
