JV Little Lady Bucs dominate Philippi in 40-8 triumph


PHILIPPI – Ava Hollen and Harley Dean poured in 10 points apiece here Jan. 8 to lead the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Lady Bucs to an easy 40-8 junior varsity victory over Philippi’s Lady Bulldogs.

The Little Lady Bucs romped into a 12-0 lead in the first period, with Hollen banging in three buckets, Alyssa Abel canning two, and Alivia Barton adding one.

With Dean exploding for all 10 of her total, Hollen tossing in four, and Jansen Kimble and Hannah Boyles each contributing two, the Little Lady Bucs took the second stanza by an 18-0 spread to hold a 30-0 lead at the half.

Philippi was able to tally four markers in each of the final two quarters.

Following Hollen and Dean in the scoring column were Abel with eight markers, Barton, Anna Grace Lantz and Kimble with two apiece, and Quinn Burnside with one.

Buckhannon improved to 4-5. The Little Lady Bucs were to have faced visiting Washington Irving Monday. They will visit Taylor County tonight.
