JV Lady Bucs struggle with Mohigans in setback


MORGANTOWN – A scoreless first quarter set the tone for the Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs in their contest with Morgantown Monday evening in a 41-14 loss.

Morgantown raced out to an 18-0 lead after the first quarter.

Callie Lantz and Olivia Ellis each put in a three-pointer for the Lady Bucs in the second quarter, but they lost it by a 12-6 margin and trailed at the half by a 30-6 score.

Ellis drained another three and Kyndal Davis put in a free throw for the Lady Bucs in the third quarter that went to Morgantown by a 6-4 margin.

That left the Lady Bucs down by a 36-10 score going into the final quarter.

Ellis fired in another three-pointer and McKinley Bonnett added a free throw for the Lady Bucs in the fourth quarter.

Ellis led the Lady Bucs in scoring with nine points.

Emma Howell paced Morgantown with 14 points.

The loss dropped B-U to 0-4 on the season heading into last night’s game with Philip Barbour.

They will return to the court Friday at Bridgeport for a 5:45 pm. tip-off.
