JV Lady Bucs put away Bridgeport with ease, 47-24

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs led from start to finish against the visiting Bridgeport Indians in a 47-24 victory Tuesday night at the high school.

The win improved the Lady Bucs to 9-7 on the season.

The Lady Bucs raced out to a 7-1 lead after one quarter of action with Lexi Kelley scoring five points and Justice Courtney two.

The two teams played to a 10-10 deadlock in the second quarter with Alayna Nesbitt scoring five, Leah Moore four and McKinley Bonnett one for the Lady Bucs.

That left the Lady Bucs up 17-11 at the break.

The Lady Buc offense really got going in the third quarter as they outscored Bridgeport by a 19-6 margin.

Moore poured in eight points, Courtney six, Nesbitt five in the third quarter as they took a 36-17 lead heading into the last stanza.

The Lady Bucs also took the final quarter by an 11-7 margin with Courtney dropping in six, Claire Coffman three and Nesbitt two.

Courtney led the Lady Bucs with 14 points while Moore collected 12 points.

Emma Dotson tallied eight for Bridgeport.

The Lady Bucs will be back in action today when they visit Lewis County at 5:45 p.m.
