TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur High School girls junior varsity basketball team (3-7) fell short to the junior varsity Bridgeport Indians at home last Tuesday, February 1, losing a modified game by a final score of 9-7. With Bridgeport, playing with a depleted roster, the two teams agreed to only play one quarter. With the loss, the junior varsity Lady Bucs overall record on the year drops to 3-8.
In the one-quarter affair, two Lady Bucs found their way on the stat sheet, with Casadie Lahman scoring 4 points on 2 made 2-point field goals and Regina Petrokovich nailing a 3-point field goal. Despite a valiant effort from the Lady Bucs, there wasn’t enough time to truly get into an offensive rhythm. In an unmodified game, it would have been interesting to see if this game had a different outcome.
The Lady Bucs looked sharp in their limited action against a talented Bridgeport squad. All signs point towards the fact thar the team are trending in the right direction as they continue to develop. This junior varsity Lady Bucs team has grown by leaps and bounds in each outing. There is little doubt that these girls have put in the work, if they continue to do so the wins will follow.
