JV Lady Bucs drop 49-26 decision to Colts


PHILIPPI – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs were slow out of the gate and dropped a 49-26 decision to the Philip Barbour Colts in a road outing Wednesday evening.

The Lady Bucs managed just a single field goal by Kyndal Davis in the first quarter as they trailed by an 8-2 margin.

The Lady Bucs were doubled up in the second quarter by an 18-9 margin and trailed at the half by a 26-11 score.

Rosie Shackleford had the hot hand with six points in the second quarter while Regina Petrokovich added a three-pointer.

The Lady Bucs and Colts were even at 10-10 in the third quarter.

Callie Lantz poured in eight points including two three-pointers while Davis added a basket for the Lady Bucs in the third as they trailed by a 36-21 margin heading into the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter went in Philip Barbour by a 13-5 margin as Shackleford tallied three points and Davis two.

Shackleford led the Lady Bucs with nine points while Lantz scored eight.

Darcy Knight scored a game-high 15 points for the Colts.

The loss dropped the Lady Bucs to 0-5 on the season heading into last night’s game at Bridgeport.

The Lady Bucs will return to action Tuesday hosting Lewis County at 5:45 p.m.
