JV Lady Buc lacrosse team improves to 5-0 on the season


TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity lacrosse team racked up three more convincing victories here last week to keep their record perfect on the season.

They downed George Washington by a 7-1 score then beat Fairmont Senior by a 9-5 count and Spring Mills by a 7-3 score.

The three games left the Lady Bucs with a 5-0 record.

“I am seeing a lot of good things from a very young junior varsity team,” remarked head coach Jamie Greene. “They just keep getting better every game.”

Against George Washington, the Lady Bucs owned a 3-1 lead at the break.

They shutout George Washington in the second half as they won the outing, 7-1.

“The girls came out fast and kept the pressure up the entire game,” stated Greene.

Maddy Shores, Kaylie McKisic and Hannah Walton paced the offense with two goals apiece while Morgan Wilson scored one.

The defense was led by Gaidian Adams, Taylor Rice, Kiara Woods and Mashae Bowser.

Leah Crihfield made eight saves for the Lady Bucs in the net.

The Lady Bucs faced a tougher battle with Fairmont Senior as they led by just one at the break, at 4-3.

They outscored Fairmont Senior in the second half by a 5-2 margin for the 9-5 victory.

McKisic had a huge day with five goals while Shores added two and Wilson and Iris Kolenich each one.

Crichfield and Powers shared time in the net with Crichfield making three saves and Powers two.

Greene cited Abby Vincent, Sheridan Phillips, Cataline Farnsworth, Kiley Fasick, Kaalie Ree, Lilly Keith and Kaylee O’Connor as aiding in the win.

The Lady Bucs jumped in front of Spring Mills by a 3-1 lead at the break and outscored them 4-2 for the 7-3 win.

Shores, McKisic, and Walton each had two goals while Farnsworth added one.

Rice, Destiny Chidester, Woods and Adams led the defense.

Cricfield made four saves while Powers stopped one in shared net duties for the Lady Bucs.

The Lady Bucs were slated to play St. Albans this past Wednesday.

They will return to action today when they play Fairmont Senior at 7:30 p.m.
