JV golf Bucs place second at home tri-match

Buckhannon-Upshur’s Taylor Spratt tees off on hole number seven at the Buckhannon Country Club Monday afternoon. Spratt finished fourth with a 42 for the JV Bucs in a three-team outing.

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity golf Buccaneers placed second out of three teams facing some rainy weather at the Buckhannon Country Club on Monday.

The JV Bucs finished second with a score of 211 while Parkersburg won the event with a 197 and Preston was third with a 214.

B-U’s Taylor Spratt finished fourth overall to lead the Bucs with a 42 while Tucker Burr was fifth with a 51.

The rest of the B-U line-up included Easton Perkins shooting a 55, Jaden Westfall firing a 56, Parker Lockwood and Jevon Westfall carding 57s and Jesse Hackett shooting a 60.

The top four individual scores were counted into the team scoring.

“This wound up being an opportunity for the junior varsity club to play in some bad weather,” noted B-U head coach Jason Westfall. “We had some issues adjusting to the weather. I am very proud of Taylor breaking into the 40s for us. She enjoys playing the game and hasn’t even come close to her potential.”

John Westfall of Preston earned low medalist honors with a 42 while Parkersburg’s Vinnie Guice and Dylan Bond tied for second with 45s.
