JV Bucs run away from Colts in 67-45 win

TENNERTON – Zach Calef-Boring scored a game-high 20 points and Shawn Blandino added 13 as the Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Bucs rolled to an easy 67-45 win over the visiting Philip Barbour Colts Thursday evening at the high school gym.

The Bucs took an early 14-12 lead at the end of one quarter with Ian Strader, Shelton Thropp and Blandino all scoring four points while Calef-Boring put in two.

The Bucs started to pull away from the Colts in the second quarter winning it by an 18-10 margin.

Calef-Boring had six points in the quarter while Keyton Lanier and Oliver King each had five and Blandino two as the Bucs owned a 32-22 lead at the intermission.

Buckhannon-Upshur poured it on in the third quarter, taking it by a 20-12 score.

Calef-Boring and Thropp each went for seven points while Lanier added a trey and Blandino put in three points as well.

That gave the Bucs a 52-34 going into the fourth quarter.

The Bucs won the last quarter by a 15-11 margin with Calef-Boring putting in five points, Blandino four, and Ryan Snyder, Strader and Nathaniel Ringer two each.

Following Calef-Boring and Blandino in the scoring column for the Bucs were Thropp with 11 and Lanier with eight.

Kaden Humphreys scored a team-high 17 points to lead the Colts.

The win left the Bucs with a 6-5 record.

They will host Bridgeport on Monday at 5:45 p.m.
