JV Bucs dominate Lewis County in finale, 68-27

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Buccaneers ended their season in fine fashion with a 68-27 thrashing of the Lewis County Minutemen Wednesday evening at the high school gym.

The Bucs raced out to a 17-7 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back en route to their 41-point victory.

Zach White and Zach Calef-Boring each scored six points and Mason Hyre added five as the Bucs took a 10-point cushion after one quarter.

The Bucs won the second quarter by a 16-5 margin with Lamar Hurst going off for six points, Hyre and Euan Kettle four each and Sterlin Thropp two as they took a 33-12 lead into the break.

B-U didn’t slow down in the third quarter winning it by a 15-8 margin.

Calef-Boring, Thropp and Will McCauley each had four points and Noam Keith three in the third quarter for the Bucs as they took a 48-20 advantage in the final canto.

The Bucs easily took the fourth quarter by a 20-7 count.

Felipe Montero scored seven points while Cody Bailey had five, Calef-Boring four and Wilbur Snyder and Keyton Lenier two each.

Calef-Boring led the Bucs with 14 points while Hyre put in nine points.

Adam Watson led the Minutemen with five points.

The Bucs ended their season with a 16-5 record.
