BUCKHANNON — The Buckhannon Police Department responded to an alleged knifing incident early Monday evening after school behind Buckhannon Academy Elementary involving juveniles. One juvenile was reportedly taken into custody, while another went to the hospital by personal vehicle.
According to scanner traffic, the situation involved a knife across a juvenile’s face. BPD officer Angel McCauley said the basketball hoops behind the school were taken down in relation to the situation.
Superintendent Dr. Sara Stankus reported that the incident occurred after school hours and said the Board of Education is still gathering information from the police. “At no time were students from Buckhannon Academy Elementary School present or in danger,” Dr. Stankus assured. “Upshur County Schools are working in full cooperation with local authorities who are investigating.”
