Junior varsity Little Bucs rally past Bridgeport, 24-22

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School junior varsity Little Bucs rallied for a huge 24-22 victory over the visiting Bridgeport Indians back on Dec. 19.

The Little Bucs took a 4-2 lead after one quarter behind baskets from Jonas Barton and Eli Boggs, but were shutout in the second quarter by an 8-0 margin and trailed at the half by a 10-4 score.

Barton scored four points, Jerin Westfall launched a three-pointer and Brody McDaniels scored a basket as the Little Bucs won the third quarter by a 9-4 spread, but they still trailed going into the final quarter by a 14-13 score.

With Jerin Westfall putting in another trey, Carter Zuliani scoring three points and Ryan Kelley and Barton each adding a basket and Jevon Westfall a free throw, the Little Bucs took the last quarter by an 11-8 score and the game for a two-point win.

Barton led the Little Bucs with eight points.

The Little Bucs will return to action Jan. 15 at Taylor County for a 6 p.m. start.
