Junior varsity Little Bucs crush Hilltoppers, 48-24

TENNERTON – Ten players broke into the scoring column for the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Buccaneers here Jan. 14 in their 48-24 triumph over Washington Irving’s Hilltoppers in junior varsity action.

Luke Yardley led the balanced scoring with nine points. Following him were Nathaniel Ringer with eight, Bryson Johnston, Jaden Westfall and Carter Zuliani each with six, Landon Marple with four, Ian Strader and Michael Farrar with three apiece, Jonas Barton with two, and Colin Bailey with one.

The Little Bucs stormed into a 13-2 first-quarter lead, with Zuliani canning four points, Farrar tallying three, and Johnston, Barton and Westfall adding two apiece.

With Ringer firing in six markers, Johnston banging in four, Strader tossing in three, and Zuliani contributing two, the Little Bucs claimed the second period by a 15-5 spread to build a 21-point lead, at 28-7, at halftime.

They continued their dominance with a 14-5 third canto that put the game out of reach at 42-12. Yardley had all nine of his points in that segment.
