Junior varsity Little Bucs close out season with wins against Webster County and Mountaineer (Morgantown)

WEBSTER SPRINGS – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School junior varsity Little Bucs closed out their season in style with a pair of road wins over Webster County and Mountaineer (Morgantown) Middle.

They defeated Webster County by a 45-9 score and downed Mountaineer by a 51-44 count.

Against Webster County, the Little Bucs won it with the three-point shot as they hit seven for the game.

With Jerin Westfall scoring four points, Landon Marple three and Eli Boggs and Malaki Williams two each, the Little Bucs raced out to an 11-4 lead after one quarter.

The Little Bucs won the second quarter by a 14-2 score and took a 25-6 lead in the break.

Marple had 10 points while Williams had the other four for the Little Bucs in the second quarter.

The third quarter went to the Little Bucs by a 13-0 score with Marple putting in five points, Jerin Westfall and Boggs three each and Jevon Westfall two.

That treated them to a 38-6 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The won the final quarter by a 7-3 count with Brody McDaniels nailing a three-pointer and Matthew McQuain and Drahden Rice each scoring a basket.

Marple led the Bucs with 18 points.

Against Mountaineer, the Little Bucs took a 14-8 lead after one quarter with Jerin Westfall scoring eight points, Marple three, Boggs two and Williams one.

The Little Bucs lost the second quarter by a 16-6 score with Marple scoring a trey and Jerin Westfall adding three points.

The Little Bucs trailed at the half by a 24-20 score.

Buckhannon-Upshur rebounded to win the third quarter by a 16-6 score with Williams going off for eight points, Jerin Westfall four, and Jevon Westfall and Marple two each.

That gave the lead back to the Little Bucs, at 36-30.

The Little Bucs won the final quarter by a 15-14 score with Jevin Westfall scoring seven points, Williams five and Boggs three.

Jerin Westfall had a game-high 22 points while Williams added 14.
