Junior varsity Lady Bucs improve to 7-6 after earning 45-24 triumph over John Marshall’s Monarchs

MOUNDSVILLE – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs made it worth their while on the 2 ½ hour trip to Moundsville Saturday evening when they faced the John Marshall Monarchs.

The Lady Bucs jumped on the Monarchs early and cruised to a convincing 45-24 victory.

The win upped their record to 7-6 on the season.

With Lexi Kelley scoring eight points, Kiara Woods four points, Robin Ball three and Alayna Nesbitt two, the Lady Bucs stormed out to a 17-9 lead after one quarter of action.

The Lady Bucs took the second quarter by an 8-7 margin with Nesbitt dropping in a trey, Leah Moore adding three points and McKinley Bonnett putting in two.

That treated them to a 25-16 advantage the half.

Buckhannon-Upshur won the third quarter by a 9-4 score with Justice Courtney scoring five points, Amaia Ramirez three, Nesbitt two and Moore one.

Buckhannon-Upshur led going into the fourth quarter by a 34-20 score.

Courtney chipped in five points and Moore and Bonnett two each as the fourth quarter went to the Lady Bucs by another 9-4 count.

Courtney led the Lady Bucs in scoring with 10 points while Kelley had eight.

Lillie Babiczuk paced John Marshall with seven points.

The Lady Bucs will be back in action tonight as they travel to University for a 5:45 p.m. contest.
