TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Buc lacrosse team is off to a 2-0 start to the season after a pair of wins over University and Morgantown.
The Lady Bucs opened the season two weeks ago and posted a 5-1 win over University.
They followed that up on March 25 with a 6-4 victory over Morgantown.
Against University, the Lady Bucs owned a 2-1 lead at the break.
They shutout the Hawks in the second half for the 5-1 win.
Miranda Greene had two goals to pace the offense while Hannah Walton, Kaley McKisic and Gaidian Adams each had one.
“Our defense of Taylor Rice, Adams, Mashae Bowser and Kiara Woods played very well together,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jamie Greene. “We have a lot of young players with a lot of talent.
B-U keeper Leah Crichfield made seven saves.
The Lady Bucs were down 4-2 at the half to Morgantown but again held their opponent scoreless in the second half as they rallied with four goals for a 6-4 win.
Walton and McKisic each had two goals while Ashleih Damon and Emma Reger each had one.
The Lady Bucs were slated to play George Washington last Thursday, Spring Mills last Saturday and St. Albans Wednesday.
They will return to action Monday when they host Fairmont Senior at 7:30 p.m.
