Joseph Gould


BUCKHANNON — Joseph Gould, 97, of French Creek, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. He was born April 17, 1919 in Sago, a son of the late Gilbert and Ethel B. Hamilton Gould. On Oct. 10, 1951 he married Clara E. McCartney who preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2016. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Gaston. He is survived by three sons, Keith Gould and wife Louise, of French Creek, Ronald Gould and wife Juetta, of Westernport, Md. and Terry Gould and wife Kim, of Big Bend; three grandsons, Greg Gould, of Frostburg, Brad Gould, of Crawford, and Dr. Michael Gould, of Keyser; three granddaughters, Melissa Gould, of Webster Springs, Erin Perry and husband Tim, of Big Bend,  and Amber Beckner, of French Creek; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandsons, Doug Gould, of French Creek, Johnathan and Andrew Perry, both of Big Bend, Liam Gabriel and Jessiah Michael Gould, both of Keyser, Brandon, Brayden and Brok Gould, all of French Creek; two great-granddaughters, Megyn Gould of Crawford and Paisley Beckner of French Creek; one sister, Anna Cutright of Crawford; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Tom Bailey of Tallmansville, and Troy (Buddy) Brady of Hinkleville. Mr. Gould was a custodian for the Upshur County Board of Education. He was a member of the Indian Camp Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the French Creek DAV Chapter 36, the VFW Post 3663, and WV Association of Retired School Employees (W.V.A.R.S.E.) of Upshur County. Friends were received Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Wease L. Day and Pastor Kara Phillippi officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Bend Cemetery at Sago. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside.
