Jack Waggy runs third; Little Buccaneers take second in opener at Barbour County Skirmish

PHILIPPI – Jack Waggy ran third for the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School cross country Little Bucs in their debut last Friday in the Barbour County Skirmish at Philip Barbour High School.

Waggy ran a time of 13:42.

Little Buc Weldon Zirkle also had a top-five finish placing fifth with a time of 14:26.

Rounding out the scoring Little Bucs were Brandon Landis in 12th with a time of 15:39, Jude Snyder running 14th with a clocking of 15:44 and Brody McDaniels placing 18th with a time of 17:16.

The rest of the B-UMS line-up included Janson Garton (17:47), Alex Casto (17:57), Lucas Bennett (18:30), Peyton Brady (18:36), Alex Sappey (18:42) and Roman Rizo (1911).

Maddox Prince from Robert L. Bland won the individual title with a time of 13:12 while Kayden McElroy of Philippi took runner-up honors with a time of 13:38.

Philippi won the team title with 22 points while the Little Bucs were second with 34 and Belington was the only other full squad there, placed third with 70 points.

The Little Bucs will run again Sept. 14 at Bridgeport.
