It’s official, WVSSAC announces B-U will be AAAA in basketball


MORGANTOWN — Just prior to our deadline for today’s paper, the WVSSAC announced the new classifications and  the launch of the high school basketball ‘4-Class’ system.

The new setup will be utilized for a two-year trial basis, starting with the 2020-2021 academic year.

Regional and sectional alignments will be released in January.

Buckhannon-Upshur is one of 29 teams selected to play in the new 4-Class system.

The classes are broken down with 29 teams in AAAA, 29 in AAA, 29 in AA and 38 in A.
