BUCKHANNON — Michelle Nicholson is proud to offer family salon services at Infinity Hair Salon now located at 133 Wood Street. Nicholson specializes in haircuts for women, men and children. She also performs other salon services including foils, color, perms and waxing.
Nine years ago, Nicholson graduated from Clarksburg Beauty Academy with her certificate in Cosmetology. She then started working with the previous owner of Infinity Hair Salon for years. Unfortunately, the previous owner became ill and passed away. After the passing of her previous boss, Nicholson worked under her boss' husband for a few years. Nicholson always had dreams of having her own salon but timing and opportunities for property did not seem to work out until recently. When she was informed by a friend, that the location of the old Blades and Fades was going to be available, Nicholson immediately looked into the opportunity and everything fell into place. Infinity Hair Salon has been open now for four weeks.
Of all her favorite things to do, Nicholson named color as her to favorite. “It is so fun to put artistic ability into hair color and have it turn out into something beautiful,” said Nicholson. “Haircuts are fun; it is basically the same idea for a certain cut but being able to style hair and put a different spin on it is great.”
Nicholson mentioned a plan to eventually hire an additional stylist to assist her. She would likely reach out to new graduates, such as those from Fred Eberle Technical Center. The stylist also explained that one of the challenges to being a cosmetologist is building clientele; new graduates do not typically have that yet.
While Nicholson is very proud of her new endeavor, she gave thanks to her mom, Lisa Sisolack, who made everything possible. “My mom is the physical owner of the business while I manage and operate everything including the search for another stylist. She has been my biggest support in life and has always encouraged and supported my dreams,” said Nicholson.
Infinity Hair Salon is currently open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome and Saturdays are available by appointment only. The building has a ramp at the entrance, allowing for accessibility. The stylist is willing to offer evening visits, as well as updos for special occasions, such as prom; however, those services are by appointment only. Nicholson describes her salon as “a friendly and relaxing atmosphere.” Infinity Hair Salon can be reached by calling (304) 460-2074.
