Hurst scores 14 as Little Bucs roll past Taylor County, 37-27

GRAFTON – Mark Hurst tallied 14 points and Shawn Blandino added 11 here last Monday night to pace the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Buccaneers to a 37-27 victory over Taylor County’s Knights in a varsity clash.

With Blandino canning five points, and Zach Calef-Boring, Hurst and Zade Woody tossing in a bucket apiece, the Little Bucs got off to a 11-7 start.

Hurst fired in a trey, and Blandino and Woody canned deuces to give the second canto to the Little Bucs. They owned a six-point lead, at 18-12, at intermission.

They claimed a 9-8 edge in the third stanza, with Hurst going on a seven-point spree and Blandino adding a bucket.

The Little Bucs closed out with a 10-7 fourth period on two goals by Ian Donnen, one each by Blandino and Woody, and a pair of charity throws by Hurst.

Rounding out Buckhannon’s scoring were Woody with six markers, Donnen with four and Zach Calef-Boring with two.

The Little Bucs improved to 4-1. They will be at home with South Tuesday, and visit Bridgeport Thursday.
