High school play-off pairings, dates and times announced


PARKERSBURG ­—Dates, times and locations are set for the state quarterfinal matchups of the West Virginia high school football playoffs.

Round one of the play-offs saw very little in the way of upsets as the higher seed won six of the eight games in Class AAA, seven of the eight contest in Class AA and seven of the eight games in Class A.

The biggest upset came in Class AA where No. 12 seed Weir beat No. 5 seed Poca by a 41-14 score.

The top four seeds in every classification advanced.

Quarterfinal action will get underway this Friday.

Class AAA

No. 9 Parkersburg at No. 1 Martinsburg – Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

No. 7 Huntington at No. 2 Spring Valley – Friday, 7:30 p.m.

No. 11 Hedgesville at No. 3 Capital – Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

No. 5 Ripley at No. 4 Musselman – Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Class AA

No. 8 Point Pleasant at No. 1 Fairmont Senior – Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

No. 7 Keyser at No. 2 Bluefield – Friday, 7:30 p.m.

No. 6 Robert C. Byrd at No. 3 Bridgeport – Friday, 7:30 p.m.

No. 12 Weir at No. 4 Nicholas County – Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

Class A

No. 9 Magnolia at No. 1 Wheeling Central Catholic – Friday, 7:30 p.m.

No. 7 Sherman vs. No. 2 Midland Trail at Greenbrier East H.S. – Friday. 7:30 p.m.

No. 6 Williamstown vs. No. 3 Mount View at Princeton H.S. – Friday, 7:30 p.m.

No. 5 Cameron at No. 4 Doddridge County – Friday, 7:30 p.m.
