BRIDGEPORT — Jayden Hibbitt was named an All-Mountain East Conference Honorable Mention selection, the league announced on Tuesday, March 1.
The 6’ 6” redshirt freshman forward hailing from Woodbridge, Va., was one of the top offensive options for a young 2021-22 WVWC Bobcat team. Hibbett led the Bobcats in scoring, rebounding, field goals made, field goal percentage and free throws made. Hibbitt played in 22 games before his season was cut short. However, despite this, he still managed to finish the season as the eighth best scorer in the MEC, as measured by points per game.
Hibbitt collected these honors after scoring 20 or more points on nine separate occasions and 15 or more points in 18 of the 22 contests he appeared in this season. Hibbitt posted two separate career-high 29 point outings this season, against West Liberty back on December 1 and Salem back on January 1. Hibbitt tallied another career-high 16 rebounds against Wheeling back on January 26. Hibbitt will look to carry the momentum he generated this season into his redshirt sophomore campaign. Hopes around the WVWC men’s basketball program should be high going into next season, with many key contributors from this year’s team poised to return barring unforeseen departures or transfers.
