ALLIANCE, Ohio — Helen R. (Alexander) Mather, 82, of Alliance, passed away at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at her home.
She was born April 12, 1934, in Buckhannon, W.Va., to Dewey and Margaret (Baxa) Alexander and has lived in Alliance since 1955. Helen was a high school graduate and a member of Bolton United Methodist Church. She was employed with the former Alliance Manufacturing Company for 32 years and retired in 1997. She was also employed at the Alliance Walmart from 1997 to 2014.
Survivors include her two sons, Stephen E. Cutright, of Ravenna and Glenn Cutright, of Alliance; daughter, Janet L. Cutright Yost, of Alliance; one stepson, David L. Mather, of Blanchard, Okla.; stepdaughter, Katherine Sevier of Florida; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Ralph N. Alexander, of Buckhannon, W.Va.; and three sisters, Margie L. Ford and Betty L. Garrison, both of Buckhannon, W.Va. and Lucinda M. Fouse of Vienna, W.Va..
Along with her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Mather, whom she married June 25, 1972 and who died June 30, 2009; two brothers, Junior Alexander and Leonard Alexander; sister, Frances; and a stepson, C. James Mather.
Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Miller of Beechwood United Methodist Church officiating. Friendswere received from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
