BUCKHANNON — Helen Jean Heater, 74, of French Creek, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. She was born July 28, 1943 in Alexander, a daughter of the William Zane and Hildrene Jennis Douglas Hinkle. On Oct. 14, 1960 she married Charles Vernon Heater who preceded her in death on July 6, 2000.
She is survived by one daughter, Dedorah “Dee” Heater-Tomblyn and husband Bruce, of Buckhannon; one son, Charles Brent Heater and wife Joyce, of Grafton, Ohio; one grandson, Charles “Chuck” Brent Heater II, of Grafton, Ohio; one granddaughter, Crystal Ann Ksiazk and husband Dan, of Amherst, Ohio; one great-grandson, Jacob Ksiazk, of Amherst; two brothers, William Zane Hinkle Jr. and wife Betty, of French Creek, and David Ray Hinkle and wife Rhonda, of French Creek, and a sister-in-law, Juanita Bunner, of Buckhannon. Mrs. Heater was a retired vice president for Key Corp. Bank in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the president of the Star Gazer Garden Club, the past president of the Fred Brooks Garden Club, past district director of the Tygart Valley District Garden Club, the South Atlantic Regional chairman for container gardening, a West Virginia State Flower Show Judge and a life member of the W.Va. State Garden Club. Friends were received Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease L. Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Czar. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Cancer Society.
